There are always untrodden facets of sound to be explored, and working on something that’s new to me is always exciting. I’ve had fun making every album I’ve done! Here’s a partial discography for you to check out.
SeaponyFalling
Hardly Art (Subpop subsidiary) 2012
What You Wanted
Recorded at home by Seapony, mixed at Dub Narcotic. Upon bringing up the first track a big smile crossed my face. And then it stayed there for the rest of the time I spent mixing this album.
Briana MarelaSpeak From Your Heart
Bicycle Records 2012
An Energy So Great
A strong co-production between myself and Briana. We made most excellent use of the vibe at Dub Narcotic and it really shows in this lush, experimental electro-folk experience of an album.
June MadronaLions of Cascadia
Bicycle Records 2012
Bobby Scarecrow
Lions of Cascadia is the 4th album I’ve done with June Madrona. Beautiful acoustic songs with lyrical content as real and honest as one could hope for. This band is an ever-revolving cast of musician-friends based around the consistency of (Bicycle Records owner) Ross Cowman’s songwriting.
AIDS WolfMa vie banale avant-garde
Love Pump United 2011
Please hold the line
Recorded entirely live at Dub Narcotic; the drums through the volume modulated synthesizer vocal setup made for one hell of a drum sound. Plus distorted drum overheads to tape? Yeah, we went there.
Derek JohnsonSelf Titled LP
Aphonia 2011
FKXMS
Solo experimental cello recorded by Derek, mixed by me. We started out with a pair of decent quality home-recorded tracks to work with, but this song really came into itself during the mixing stage. He kept at me to just push it over the edge and this is where it ended up. Derek is a postal worker and this song is his tribute to the Christmas season.
Wisdom TeethSelf Titled LP
Radio Is Down 2010
Drone City
Relatively clean and tight sounding yet still tough. The drums were done in a pretty small room but we were still able to get a pretty good sound out of them, especially after some creative gating of a trashy sounding room mic keyed by the snare drum.
Eleanor MurrayOh, Thunder
Bicycle Records 2010
Hush/Smash
Eleanor’s intelligent and captivating songwriting appears here in a full band setting. The feel across the album varies, this track makes more prominent use of mixdown effects than many others. Recorded at Dub Narcotic Studio Spring ’10.
Explode Into ColorsEyes Hands Mouth
Kill Rock Stars 2009
Wooden Ghost
Done mostly live in a secret underground lair beneath Marriage Records. These songs ended up with a pretty cool almost 70′s reminiscent vibe.
Jeremy JaySlowdance
K Records 2009
In This Lonely Town
A very K Records sounding track, it was recorded and mixed at Dub Narcotic. Jeremy played a really strong part in the sound of these recordings. To me, it’s a cool example of how an album can take on a whole different life when working with an artist that really knows what they want.
Polka Dot Dot DotSYZYGY
Bicycle Records 2009
Fate Of The Ardent
Simple and beautiful acoustic music. Recorded all live except the electric guitar, and touched up with some small mixing flourishes. Polka Dot Dot Dot are great people to work with and the album turned out beautifully.
Yes, PleaseFor Now For Then For Them
Bicycle Records 2008
Yes For Now
This is one of those albums that ended up far more magical than I could initially have conceived. I still get comments on the street about this one! Lily has gone on to some really cool musical projects including Grass Widow and Ruby Pins, so in retrospect, it’s no wonder that it turned out as amazing as it did.
KickballEverything Is a Miracle Nothing Is a Miracle Everything Is…
Houseopolis/High Fives and Handshakes 2007
Underground Husbands
We were hoping that the album would sound like birds eating crickets. Or maybe whales making love, under water. Naturally. Recorded at the Dept. of Safety in Anacortes, WA.
PalisadesUnderground Houses
Self Released 2006
Like Pornography
A somewhat more “studio” song in that it’s composed primarily of overdubs. I really like the sound of the tripled melody instruments. Recorded basics in a beautiful sounding chapel space, you can really hear it in the drums.
